Evacuation Tale
March 9th, 2025 - around 11 AM Frankfurt time
I am sitting at Lufthansa lounge at Frankfort airport on my way from Istanbul tukiye to Houston IAH. 10 days ago, US-Israel launched an attack on Iran disrupting our calm ordinary life in Abu Dhabi. After a few strained days of misses attacked, which were successfully intercepted, Thanks to Sheikh Zayed and team of UAE, we were told by EM to evacuate mandatory. So we rode a bus from IKEA< Abu Dhabi on 6th March to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with many other EM families. From there we took a Carter flight on 8th to Istanbul Türkiye, and on 9th Mooring 6:30 AM we boarded another flight to Houston IAM via Frankfurt. We are sitting here in the Lufthansa lounge as I type this.
Unfortunately pets were not allowed to evacuate and we did not have a full time nanny to stay at home for Bingo. After much pain and dilemma, we put Bingo at a pet Hotel Woofers, and he has been adjusting to the new environment slowly. It breaks y heart to imagine how his life must be there and how much hems be missing us all. But there is not much that we can do at this stage.
We have a hotel booked in the woodlands for our 30 day stay and I am praying this does not go beyond that time. I am going to fly to Abu Dhabi anyway if this continues to be united again with my Bingo baby. Kids will be doing remote learning. Anika and Ishani are constantly on their phones and it bothers me no ends but what can I do beyond a point? I give up!
Anyways, I am thankful for a few things:
1. The evacuation was timely and quick. We did not have to wait for anything and EM took care of all arrangements for us. We stayed at the most comfortable hotel throughout and had the luxury of traveling business class in all our trips.
2. Sadly, this is the holy month of ramadan and the school days were short and work slow so there was not much loss to the kids but I am sad that this Holy month got tainted by this unholy war between because of unholy intentions of evil leaders.
3. We have 1 month paid accommodation in Houston so immediately there won't be any expenses. After that, most likely we will move back to AD. If not, I still have my apartment at Towers the woodlands.
4. I am going to take math 8-12 tests, apply for teaching jobs and also try to finish physics 8-12 tests while here.\
5. I do intend to exercise everyday while I am here and to go to the temple every Friday to pray.
6. I want to do charity work while I am here.
